I blend the sides short around the ears and neckline, but never down to bare skin. I don’t do fades.

Before any cut, I show you with my fingers exactly where the length will land. You know what you’re getting before I start.
Scissor and clipper work
Clippers on the sides and back with natural tapers, scissors on top, and thinning shears to blend it all. Clipper work always happens dry, and I mist the top before the scissor work. More on my scissor haircut.

Bring a photo.
No need to know the name of a cut. Show me a photo on your phone or describe what you want, and before I start, I’ll tell you honestly how it will sit with your hair. If the photo shows a fade, I’ll suggest the closest version I do: blended short, but never down to bare skin.

How often to come back
Three to four weeks keeps this cut looking intentional. A natural taper grows out cleanly, so you have a wider window than with a fade. Past five or six weeks, the neckline and the weight over the ears start working against the shape. Growing something out? Come in anyway. I’ll clean the perimeter and leave the length alone.
Hair types I work with
Straight, wavy, thick, fine, thinning, grey: all of it. Thick, coarse hair gets thinning shears through the interior so it sits down. Fine hair stays heavier on top with tight edges, so it reads as more. Thinning at the crown or temples is normal, and I cut to work with it, not draw attention to it.
Your first visit
Come in with your hair dry and unstyled if you can, so I can see how it actually falls. Free parking in the Trabuco Plaza lot.
